Is the Biblical God akin to Lord Voldemort?

‘Thou shall not kill’ – is that the most perfect quote of the Biblical God that comes to mind when you think of Him?

Well – the ‘Bible surely reveals how religions twists their words accordingly to suit various agendas (in this case revealed to be a very capitalistic one if you read till the very end). So here are some examples, including what is (courtesy Harry Potter by JK Rowling) the semblance of the three most violent magical crimes, namely:

Imperius (mind controlling), Cruciatus (torture), and Avada-kedavara (the killing curse), making it hard to differentiate between the kind words of God and the superficial ones of the fearsome Dark Lord:

IMPERIUS (controlling another’s will):

Exodus 7: 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country. 3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt, 4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.”

Exodus 8: 15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.

Exodus 10: Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs of mine among them that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord.”

Cruciatus (The Torture Curse) – saved for those who do not believe in the Lord and his only Son.

Revelation 20:15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment.

Revelation 9: And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit. He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft. Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth. They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were allowed to torment them for five months, but not to kill them, and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings someone. And in those days people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them.

Revealation 14: 11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name

Mark 9: 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’

Avada Kedvara (the killing curse)

Exodus 7: 17 This is what the LORD says: “By this you will know that I am the LORD: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.18 The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.”

Exodus: 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, `This is what the LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me. 2 If you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs. 13 And the LORD did what Moses asked. The frogs died in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields.14 They were piled into heaps, and the land reeked of them.”

Exodus 11: 4-6 “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again.”

In commemoration innocent blood of young animals was shed,

Exodus 12: 1-7 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.”

Exodus 29:10-14 “Then you shall bring the bull before the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the bull. You shall slaughter the bull before the Lord at the doorway of the tent of meeting. You shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger; and you shall pour out all the blood at the base of the altar.”

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.

Of course in the tradition of violence, any parent would want to provide his own chosen one and only son, as a final sacrificial lamb:

Hebrews 13:11-13 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

Isaiah 53: 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

1 Corinthians 5: 7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

1 Peter: 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

1 Peter: 18 you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

But before heralding Jesus Christ as a champion of animal welfare and veganism, please be aware of the following:

Luke 24:41-43 The disciples were overcome with joy and amazement because this seemed too good to be true. Then Jesus asked them, “Do you have anything to eat? They gave him a piece of broiled fish. He took it and ate it while they watched him.

Luke 22:7-15 The day came during the Festival of Unleavened Bread when the Passover lamb had to be killed. Jesus sent Peter and John and told them, “Go, prepare the Passover lamb for us to eat.” They asked him, “Where do you want us to prepare it?”

And if that were not all, we also have an overwhelmingly severe teachings of:

SEXISM

Deuteronomy 22: “A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.”

Ephesians 5: 22-24: Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

1 Corinthians: 11-13 But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.

1 Corinthians 14: The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

Romans 7: 2 For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage.

Titus 2: 4-5 And so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

1 Corinthians 11: 8 For man was not made from woman, but woman from man.

1 Timothy: 2-12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

RAPE

Deuteronomy 28 If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, 29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days.

Zechariah 14: Behold, a day is coming for the Lord, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped.

Hosea 1-3: When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.” So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.

2 Samuel 12: 11-14 Thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.’

Deuteronomy 21: 10-14 “When you go out to war against your enemies, and the Lord your God gives them into your hand and you take them captive, and you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you desire to take her to be your wife, and you bring her home to your house, she shall shave her head and pare her nails. And she shall take off the clothes in which she was captured and shall remain in your house and lament her father and her mother a full month. After that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife. But if you no longer delight in her, you shall let her go where she wants. But you shall not sell her for money, nor shall you treat her as a slave, since you have humiliated her.”

Leviticus 19:20 “If a man lies sexually with a woman who is a slave, assigned to another man and not yet ransomed or given her freedom, a distinction shall be made. They shall not be put to death, because she was not free.”

SPECIEISM

Genesis 1:26 ESV God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Genesis 9:1-3 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fertile, increase in number, and fill the earth. All the wild animals and all the birds will fear you and be terrified of you. Every creature that crawls on the ground and all the fish in the sea have been put under your control. Everything that lives and moves will be your food. I gave you green plants as food; I now give you everything else”.

Proverbs 26: 3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools.

Proverbs 12:27 The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

CHILD ABUSE

Proverb 23: 13-14 Do not withhold discipline from a child; although you strike him with a rod, he will not die. Strike him with a rod and you will deliver his soul from Sheol.

Ephesians 6: 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise).

Proverb 13: 24 He who spares the rod hates his son but her who loves im disciplines him diligently.

Hebrew 12: 7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

Hebrews 12:6-8 For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines,
And He scourges every son whom He receives.”

Poor Harry too was a Horcrux carrying the unnameable Lord within him till he ‘died’ due to him.

WAR

Pslam 144: 1 Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

Deuteronomy 7: When the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than you, and when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction.

Psalm 137: By the rivers of Babylon, 9 Blessed is he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.

Hosea 13: 16 Samaria will bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.

Isiah 13: 15-17 Whoever is caught will be stabbed, and whoever is captured will die by the sword. Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes, their house will be looted, and their wives will be ravished. 17 Behold, I will stir up against them the Medes, who have no regard for silver and no desire for gold.

Deuteronomy 20: 14 But the women and the little ones, the livestock, and everything else in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as plunder for yourselves. And you shall enjoy the spoil of your enemies, which the Lord your God has given you.

RACISM AND COLONIALISM

Deuteronomy 23: No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of them may enter the assembly of the Lord forever.

Genesis 15: On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”

Exodus 13: 5 And when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you shall keep this service in this month.

SLAVERY

Ephesians 6: Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,

Leviticus 25: 44-46 As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly.

Exodus 21: 20-21 “When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money.”

1 Peter 2-18: Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.

Exodus 21: 7 “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do.”

TYRANNY

Romans 13: 1-2 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

Clearly faithful obedience to the Lord as thy master is the your best bet in ensuring you will be saved from eternal torment.

No wonder the Biblical God is infact The One Who Can Not Be Named. and simply chooses to call himself I AM.
